Meta Threads Explores Interoperability with Mastodon
Meta Platforms' Threads is launching a test to allow posts from its microblogging platform Mastodon and other platforms using the ActivityPub protocol, as announced by CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday.
The move aligns with Meta's earlier commitment to make Threads compatible with open and interoperable social networks when the app was introduced in July.

Zuckerberg highlighted the benefits, saying, "Making threads interactive will give people more choice in how they interact, and it will help content reach more people."
Mastodon, known for its decentralized and user-driven structure, is similar to Threads and serves as an alternative to Elon Musk's social media platform "X" (formerly Twitter). Working on the ActivityPub framework, Mastodon empowers users to create independent social media experiences.
Meta's July announcement outlined plans to collaborate with ActivityPub, offering users the option to move their content from Threads to another service.
